Any applicant who successfully completes the Assistance Towing (MIDATL-42) course within one year of application will satisfy the requirements of 46 CFR 11.482(b) to add an Assistance Towing endorsement to any national officer endorsement as Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) or Mate or Master on vessels of less than 200 GRT.
Upon completion of this course of instruction and examination, each student shall have a good understanding of the subject. The level of understanding will be at least equal to the standard for passing the Assistance Towing Endorsement examination given in the Regional Examination Center.
