Any applicant who has successfully completed the Assistance Towing (MIDATL-42) course and presents the Certificate of Training within one year of the completion of training, will satisfy the examination requirements of 46 CFR 11.482(b) for Assistance Towing endorsement to be added to any deck credential for service upon vessels of not more than 200 gross tons.
Upon completion of course of instruction and examination, each student shall have a good understanding of the subject. The level of understanding will be at least equal to the standard for passing the Assistance Towing Endorsement examination given in the Regional Examination Center.
