Any applicant who has successfully completed the Master/Mate Fishing Vessel (Near Coastal) (MIDATL-295) course and who presents the Certificate of Training within one year of the completion of training will satisfy the examination requirements of 46 CFR 11.205(f) for original issuance, 46 CFR 10.227(d)(8)(i)(C) for renewal, and 46 CFR 10.227(g) for reissuance of a license as Master or Mate of Uninspected Fishing Industry Vessels (Near Coastal), provided that they have also completed a Master 200 Tons course within one year.
Upon completion of instruction and examinations, each student shall have a good understanding of the subjects pertaining to a mariner in training to become master or mate of Uninspected Fishing Industry Vessels (Near Coastal) and those regulations that pertain to Title 46: Shipping Part 28; Requirements for Commercial Fishing Industry Vessels.
