Any applicant who has successfully completed our Management of Electrical & Electronic Control Equipment (MEECE) (MIDATL-176) course will satisfy the Management of Electrical & Electronic Control Equipment training requirements of 46 CFR 11.325(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(3); 46 CFR 11.327(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(3); 46 CFR 11.331(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(3); and 46 CFR 11.333(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(3).

Chief Engineers (CE) and 2nd Assistant Engineers (2E) will need this MEECE Training by 31 December 2016 for renewal of STCW endorsement to be valid on 1 January 2017.  Practical Assessments are only required for an original STCW ensorsement as CE or 2E.  

Every student, for certification as chief engineer officer and second engineer officer of seagoing ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW power or more, shall be required to demonstrate ability to undertake, at the management level, the tasks, duties, and responsibilities listed in column 1 of table A-III/2. The minimum knowledge, understanding, and proficiency required for certification is listed in column 2 of table A-III/2. This incorporates, expands, and extends in depth the subjects listed in column 2 of table A-III/1 for officers in charge of an engineering watch.
